O impacto da COVID-19 na população idosa: revisão bibliográfica

ABSTRACT: Objective: the objective of the present study was to highlight the impact of covid-19 on the elderly population, identifying the problems faced by this group during the pandemic. Method: A bibliographic search was carried out on the Scielo database on 12/19/2020, using the Portuguese and Spanish languages, resulting in 1,643 articles that after the insertion of a new filter - covid and elderly - resulted in 71 articles. Articles were selected containing the title "elderly and COVID-19" and, after removing duplicated articles, were selected 6 papers that met all criteria. Results: Elderly people with multimorbidities have an increased risk of presenting the severe form of COVID - 19. The information that each country conveyed on the topic was heterogeneous, since the characteristics of each place are unique and the way in which each government door in front of information and prepares to receive the elderly population differs from one location to another. Pandemic has also caused and amplified cases of violence against the elderly, including discrimination against them. Conclusion: The Covid - 19 virus pandemic caused and exacerbated several problems in the elderly population. In the studies studied, it was identified the question of the elderly being included in the risk group and the increased risk of complications in this part of the population when associated with age and comorbidities. It also stands out the presence of increased violence in its various aspects and inappropriate communication in general, such as cybernetic and television ¨Fake News'.The Unified Health System has an important role through the Family Health Strategy to alleviate social inequities, as well as to control chronic diseases and their prevention, reducing comorbidities and the susceptibility of the elderly to health problems. The pandemic brings important reflections on the implementation of public social and health policies that ensure clarification and the rights of the elderly population.
