Abstract

High blood pressure has a high prevalence rate among cardiovascular diseases and it is at the same time a
disease itself and a risk factor for other diseases. Patients with genetic predisposition may develop this disease at adult age if they maintain unhealthy lifestyle habits such as bad dietetic pattern. The non-pharmacological treatment is indicated in all stages of hypertension regardless of blood pressure levels. Adopted a healthy diet with low salt intake, stress reduction, alcoholic beverage restriction, smoke cessation, and regular exercise practice may reduce or even avoid the usage of high blood pressure medication.
