Abstract

The review analyzes the short film As Miçangas, directed by Rafaela Camelo and Emanuel Lavor, from a perspective that integrates cinematic aesthetics, public health, and reproductive rights. The film constructs an intimate and ritualized narrative about abortion, shifting the focus from the act itself to the experience of care, affection, and solidarity among women. The review examines the film’s visual and thematic proposal, highlighting its contribution to understanding feminine care practices that reframe women’s health experiences beyond traditional biomedical models. Through this approach, As Miçangas is analyzed as a significant example of how Brazilian cinema can articulate aesthetics and ethics in representing sensitive and urgent healthissues.
