Hospital Productivity and Impact of Quality Management in two Teaching Hospital of Brazilian National Health System

The aim of this study is to evaluate the performance of two large teaching hospitals in the northeast, before and after the administrative management by the Brazilian Company of Hospital Services (EBSERH) and analyze comparatively the impact of a quality certification program implanted in one of the Institutions. Was performed through a quantitative research, crosssectional and evaluative study to measure the performance of these institutions. Consisted of an evaluation of performance considering two periods from January to July, 2013 and 2016. It can be observed in relation to the Hospital of Education of Pernambuco (HC/UFPE), there was an increase of the hospital beds variable (3.23%). However, in the Teaching Hospital of Bahia (HU/UFBA), there was no change between 2013 and 2016. Regarding the human resources indicative, before and after the administration of EBSERH, it was verified that in HC/UFPE, there was a significant increase of employees (60.86%), as well as in HU/UFBA (28.22%). On the mortality indicator, in HC/UFPE there was an increase of (60.71%). In the HU/UFBA there was a decrease of (33.33%). Therefore, the study shows that the performance in both teaching hospitals, HC/UFPE and HU/UFBA, was satisfactory, which can be justified by the insertion of EBSERH and also by the quality management accreditation program, specifically implemented in HU/UFBA.
